How did punishment and justice differ between Sumer and Babylon? The question is from the Neolithic Time Period.

The punishments handed out in Sumer and Babylon were more similar than they were different. All ancient Mesopotamia civilizations adhered to the Code of Hammurabi which was written c. 1750 BCE. The basis of the code was "an eye for an eye:" in short, vengeance. Babylon, which was founded after Sumer, based much of their culture on the earlier work of the Sumerians. All rights, privileges and punishments were based on one's social class.
