What is important about homelessness?

Homelessness is a big deal in American and around the world.  Everyday more and more people lose a job, unable to pay bills, and eventually lose their home.  I have seen families live in cars and work while trying to survive.  No one can get around homelessness because it is a societal problem that needs a lot of attention.  I have seen the stereotype that others believe that those who do not have a home or a job are not smart people.  Well, actually they are very smart people, but circumstances made it where they can no longer have a roof over their head.  I admire these people for braving the streets to survive, and many of them are very kind people.  All you have to do is get to know them.  Never underestimate them, but treat them with respect.  They are just like you and me.  In fact, take an opportunity to reach out to them by volunteering at your local homeless shelter, and you will never be the same again because you will be changed.  Helping others changes them as well as you because of how it impacts everyone and society for the good.
