What is blood made up of?

Blood is an essential component of the body. It is the liquid flowing throughout our body carrying out various functions.

Blood is made up of upto 4000 different components. There are 4 major components which are as follows:-

1. Plasma

Plasma makes up 55% of our bloods volume. The main function of plasma is t. clean blood from toxins produced by metabolism process. It is yellow in color and carries hormones, proteins and nutrients throughout the boDy. It contains red blooD cells, white blood cells and platelets, that nourishes cells when being pumped from heart. It contains somewhat 500 proteins.

2. Red blood cells

Red blood cells carry oxygen from lungs throughout the body to various organs and tissues and also carry back carbon dioxide. Red blood cells are made continuously  in our bonemarrow by stem cells. 95% of the red blooD cells comprises of haemoglobin which are the gas transport protein molecules.

3. Platelets

Platelets are produced in the bonemarrow from stem cells. Platelets main function is to stop blood from bleeding when you get a cut in form of clotting. It also invades and kills bacteria while stimulating the immunity system.

4. White blood cells

White blood cells are found very little like 1% in the blood. these are usually made by stem cells and also at various different locations like thymus gland found in the base of the neck. White blood cells main function is directly related to immunity. These seek, recognize viruses, bacteria, Fungi etc that cause diseases and kills them. White blood cells also remove dead blood cells from blood keeping it healthy.
